NaNoWriMo Write-In at Uncharted Books

Hello Folks!

NaNoWriMo is just around the corner and it’s kind of the greatest thing that has ever existed. Attempting to write a 50,000 word novel—In One Month— is a fantastic exercise in Shitty First Draft Production and helps you accomplish the one and only thing that can make your writing any better: actually making a bunch of words get out of your head and onto (digital)paper.

While I’m super excited about participating, I kind of can’t write unless I’m being peer pressured into it. So, I’m looking for accountabilibuddies to work with and support through this likely stressful and ridiculous (but rewarding and amazing) process.

If you’re the same way, and need some folks to help keep you motivated and on-task:

I’m organizing Three Write-Ins at Uncharted Books in Chicago’s Logan Square for (tentatively) November 8th, 15th, and 30th for folks to write, research, and outline with limited distractions and limitless support. The Write-Ins will go from around 7pm until Tanner kicks us out (probably at 9). Internet access is available (for research only, y’all), and there are plenty of outlets, tables, and, obviously, snacks.

If you’re interested, and want to write entire fucking novels together, check out and join the Facebook group. I’ve just made it, so there’s not much going on today, but that’s where most of the updates, conversations, and details will live and be developed. Any NaNoWriMo participant is welcome to come and we’re excited to meet you all; we are extra excited to work alongside other women, femme, and/or queer writers.
