This is MY body and MY choice. If I decide to lose weight, I would do it by diet and exercise and because I WANT to. Not because some uneducated prick shames me into thinking that I am less of a woman or NOT sexy because of my size. Get a clue.

Okay sure. But understand a fat persons hesitancy to call you an ally if that is your choice. You do you. Do whatever you want. But realize that actively seeking weightloss contributes to larger cultural narratives that say NOT seeking weight loss / being fat and cool with it is NOT OK. Is that the same as you actively shaming fat bodies with direct words and actions? No. But it is participating in a structure that privileges thin bodies and punishes fat ones. That participation, even if it isn’t the most or biggest or loudest and no matter the motivation or intention behind it, DOES ALWAYS FOREVER ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE TIME make those structures stronger and makes resisting them more difficult in some, possibly small but still real and present, ways. So seek weight loss, if you want. It isn’t my place to tell you what to do with your body. But know that it makes it very difficult for me to consider you an ally in body acceptance.
